DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: Secretary of State Colin Powell is keeping his travel schedule. That is despite deadly terrorist attacks in Saudi Arabia and Chechnya. Fifty-two people were killed by a truck bomb Monday in Chechnya, and a suicide attack at a Chechen festival today killed 20.
Powell's itinerary today has him in Moscow to confer with Russian officials on terrorism, also the Middle East, and Iraq.

Ralitsa Vassileva joins us now from Moscow with more on this leg of the Powell trip.

Ralitsa, hello.

RALITSA VASSILEVA, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Well, Daryn, as you mentioned, just as the U.S. secretary of state arrived, just after he was just about to hold talks with the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, news of this terrorist attack. We are receiving conflicting reports, in between anywhere between 30 people killed. That's according to the state-run news agency, Itar Tass (ph), or more than 150 injured, according to the estimates of the Itar Tass (ph) news agency. It happened at a festival. A female suicide bomber detonated explosives strapped to her waist.

The Interfax news agency, a Russian news agency here, says that it was an apparent attempt. It could have been an attempt on the life of the pro-Moscow administrator in Chechnya, which is a separatist -- in which Russia is waging a separatist -- is waging a war against separatists in Chechnya, separatist rebels there.

This, as you mentioned, just as Colin Powell was about to hold talks with the Russian President Vladimir Putin. They are still holding talks as we speak.

Earlier, Colin Powell held talks with his Russian counterpart, Igor Ivanov. A participant in those talks told the Russian news agency Interfax that Mr. Powell had said the United States has no intention to use military force against Iran, Syria and North Korea. And also he said that he hopes that the two summits upcoming between President Bush and President Putin will help ease the strains after the Iraq war.

Back to you, Daryn.

KAGAN: Ralitsa, thank you very much.
