CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Time now, though, to check in with Travelocity's air traffic expert. Rally Caparas is our "Eye on the Sky." He's on our live line right now with the early word on flight delays.
Good morning -- Rally.
RALLY CAPARAS, AIR TRAFFIC EXPERT: Good morning, Carol.
Well, yesterday we told you things should run pretty smoothly up in the Northeast, and then thunderstorm activity would kick in, in the afternoon. Well, right around 2:00 yesterday we saw some severe thunderstorm activity pop up all around the Northeast, creating some very lengthy delays because of this system Chad has been talking about.
But today, it looks like things are going to operate a little bit better than they did yesterday. New York and Boston should stay delay-free all day.
Down in Philadelphia and the D.C. metros, however, 30 to 45 minute arrival delays are likely because of low clouds, mist and fog early, and then later on this afternoon and evening we could see some isolated thunderstorm activity once again limit flight routes into and out of those major airports. And hence, you'll have 30 to 45 minute arrival and departure delays at that point.
Miami and Fort Lauderdale, they got beat up real bad over the last couple of days, and today won't change anything; 30 to 45 minute arrival and departure delays, low clouds and thunderstorm activity off and on all day. Limited flight routes will be the problem there.
Fort Lauderdale had a runway shut down yesterday because of flooding. They got something in the neighborhood of 13 inches of rain over the last couple of days, so we could see longer delays into Fort Lauderdale should the rain really dump on them like it has over the last couple of days. Keep your fingers crossed.
Cincinnati Covington, 30 to 45 minute arrival delays this morning because of low clouds, fog and some rain, and then in the afternoon and evening thunderstorm activity kicks in later on during the p.m. hours. And flight routes are limited once again, and delays continue there.
The rest of the country, all the way out to the West Coast looks pretty good, but out on the immediate West Coast, Los Angeles International and San Diego, they've got some thick fog rolling in this morning; 30 minute arrival delays because of that fog. It's the marine layer type. It should be gone by about 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time for on-time schedules thereafter.
Overall, we're going to see a very, very good day for air travel nationwide, Carol. I'll be back tomorrow morning with your report to Boston.
COSTELLO: And I will appreciate that. Thank you very much, Rally.
