CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Let's head live to London, at least some live pictures -- oh, we are headed live to London. David Clinch is here to talk about the queen's 50th coronation they're celebrating in Great Britain today.
DAVID CLINCH, CNN SENIOR INTERNATIONAL EDITOR: Absolutely. A somewhat quieter celebration than some of the things that we saw during her official jubilee year, which was the celebration of her becoming queen, which was when her father died.

Today, the anniversary, the 50th anniversary of her actual coronation, which was an amazing event in many ways. And one of the most remarkable things about the original coronation 50 years ago today -- you see the queen there live with Prince Philip -- was that many people did actually get to see it on television, for the first time a royal event on television. Hundreds of years of history had gone by without people seeing things like this, and all of a sudden they were exposed to it.

A rather quiet celebration today, but, of course, we couldn't resist covering it because as well as the queen there today, you'll see Prince Charles and, as we've been talking about, Camilla Parker- Bowles.

COSTELLO: And Prince William.

CLINCH: Prince William there, too, of course. The $60,000 question, as it always is, is now that Camilla has received an official invitation to this official royal event -- and she'll be at the Buckingham Palace event later today as well -- does this now mean that she will now become at some point Prince Charles' wife? And if so, what will he then do? Would he give up the throne for Prince William?

We don't know, but we couldn't resist anyway. I mean, beautiful pictures and...

COSTELLO: So, if he married Camilla Parker-Bowles...

CLINCH: Yes.

COSTELLO: ... he doesn't have to give up the throne, or does he?

CLINCH: Well, you know, that is a very good question. There are some indications that they could stick to the old rules, that if marries a divorcee that he would have to give up the throne. Now, that has not been officially discussed at any point. He's never officially discussed it at any point.

Prince William, though, of course, turns 21 this year. That being his coming-of-age, in Britain at least. It makes him more eligible than he ever has before if Prince Charles did decide to give up the throne. But for the time being, just a beautiful picture there today as the queen, Prince William, Prince Charles, all together there in Westminster Abbey.

COSTELLO: It is a beautiful picture, lots of royal intrigue going on. David Clinch, many thanks.
