ANDERSON COOPER, ANCHOR: I want to tell you a story that seems to be breaking at this moment. We are showing you these pictures, a video from KABC shows that the top floor of a three-story building that is engulfed in flames.
Apparently, according to the Associated Press, a small plane reportedly crashed into apartments. This in Fairfax, California. This information is coming in. These pictures are the first we're seeing them. As soon as you are seeing them.

Again, this coming from the Associated Press. Small plane hit a building in Fairfax, in Los Angeles. Apparently the top floor of the three-story building has been engulfed in flames. These pictures just coming to us from KABC. Remarkable images. Obviously taken from a helicopter. You saw a number of helicopters. They seem to have cordoned off the area.

As you can see, firefighters already on the scene. A number of trucks, I'm not sure how many, have responded at this point. This is a very active blaze that they are battling, as you can see. Firefighters on the roof. Always a dangerous thing. Of course, the fear that the structure could give way. But it looks like they have secured the area, at least, and are actively attempting to put this thing out.

Small plane reportedly crashing into the apartment building. We really don't have any more information on it. But we're going to stay with these pictures as you watch the firefighters just attempting to do -- it looks like something of a residential area in the Fairfax area in Los Angeles.

We are trying to get some reports live from the scene. So we're just going to try to sticks stick with this as long as we can. And as I said, this information is just coming in to us. These pictures, we are showing them to you live.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The fire has taken off there.

COOPER: It would seem the fire is spreading now, moving across the building to the left side of the building. Firefighters moving back a little bit on the roof, trying to battle it. Very active, this fire seems to be.

We're going to try to collect more details on this thing. But it looks like this thing is continuing -- it looked for a moment like the fire was out on the left, but you can clearly see it moving around, still, moving, sweeping over the top story of this building. More firefighters seem to be arriving on the scene right there.

We are going to go to a short break. We're going to try to collect as much information as we can on this and bring it to you when we return. We'll be right back.
