JACK CAFFERTY, CNN ANCHOR: Americans have a long love affair with the underdog, which explains a lot of things, including the Funny Cide frenzy. The gelding's improbable journey could take him where no horse has gone in 25 years, straight to the Triple Crown, which if he wins it will also make him the owner of the world's most expensive vasectomy.
Josie Karp is live at Belmont Park with more on tomorrow's Belmont Stakes.

Hey -- Josie. What's up?

JOSIE KARP, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Jack, I don't know if I can top that. Let's just get right into it.

Funny Cide was actually out on this track behind me earlier today. He is, of course, the horse of the hour. And whether it is wishful thinking or just a sincere belief in his abilities, he's been installed as the even money favorite when he goes up against five other horses tomorrow night post time 6:38 p.m. Now, that six-horse field is the smallest since 1994.

And Funny Cide was involved in a little bit of a controversy this week after his workout, his final workout Tuesday morning, and it wasn't because he did not perform well, but because maybe he performed too well. He went out and he covered five furlongs in under 58 seconds. That's fast for him, and it was by far the fastest workout of the day. But his trainer, Barkley Tagg (ph), said as far as he's concerned he would have liked the horse to have held back a little bit, but he saw it was so effortless, he said he's not concerned -- Jack.

CAFFERTY: Now, they're looking for rain tomorrow. There is word that this is a pretty good horse on a sloppy track. What do you know about that?

KARP: Well, exactly. If you remember going back to the Preakness when there had been a lot of weather concerns there, everyone said that that really favored Funny Cide. And it was even one of those things that people wanted to use against this horse a little bit to say that, hey, maybe he isn't all that you think he is, he just has every condition going his way. Well, if that's the case, he's going to ride it all the way to the Triple Crown, because it does look like rain is in the future tomorrow -- Jack.

CAFFERTY: They're going to get some ratings for this thing. Josie, thanks very much -- Josie Karp live at Belmont Park with the race for the Triple Crown.
