ANDERSON COOPER, CNN ANCHOR: All right.
Moving on now back to a story that is still developing in Los Angeles. A small plane today crashed into an apartment building in the city's Fairfax district, setting the building on fire.

CNN's Dan Lothian is there.

DAN LOTHIAN, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Well, Anderson, firefighters have certainly made some progress since that plane crashed into that three-story apartment building earlier this afternoon. The latest count, we are told, some 15 people have been injured, five of those critically. The smoke behind me is much thinner now than when that plane went into the building, but a large crowd here -- you can see -- we can just move right over here. A large crowd has gathered to watch what has been going on in this neighborhood.

This is a heavy Orthodox Jewish community. Let's take a look at some of the pictures that we shot earlier, many of those folks rushing out of their apartments, coming outside after hearing a loud noise, what sounded like an explosion. Some people actually heard a sputtering noise, looked up in the air, and saw the plane out of control, coming down and slamming into that apartment building.

The latest information we have now is that the FBI is here on the scene. They are working alongside with local authorities, the FBI saying that there is no sign, no evidence, that this is in any way connected to terrorism, but they cannot yet rule it out. So they will continue their investigation -- back to you.

COOPER: All right, Dan Lothian, thanks very much.
