FREDRICKA WHITFIELD, CNN ANCHOR: They are well known in the public, but quite a few celebrities have tied the knot in private lately.
Joining us from L.A. to talk about the latest secret celebrity weddings is "Extra" anchor and correspondent Dana Devon.

Good to see you.

Well, let's talk about one of the latest secret weddings involving Christy Turlington. How were they able to get away with that?

DANA DEVON, "EXTRA" ANCHOR & CORRESPONDENT: They actually didn't do a great job of keeping that secret, if that was their goal. "Extra" actually reported it that on Friday, and then "US Weekly" also knew about it as well.

So we knew about it. They did do a good job, though, of keeping the ceremony private and keeping the rehearsal dinner private, and the reception private, but you know, we knew a lot of details going in and we knew a lot of details coming out. But you know, minimally a secret.

WHITFIELD: We are talking about Christy Turlington and Ed Burns. Their wedding taking place in North Beach. I guess if folks really want an exclusive, private wedding, they can't have it in a very public place.

DEVON: I agree. Actually, it's funny, because weddings for celebrities have changed so drastically over the past few years, with tabloids invading their privacy. So there are actually people specialized in giving them a private ceremony. And Christy Turlington and Ed Burns actually hired three people in the San Francisco area that are very versed in celebrity weddings, and did a good job of actually containing that area and making sure they had a private special moment.

WHITFIELD: OK. Well, we don't have the video of the event itself, but maybe you could be a little descriptive for us, like who was in attendance, what was her dress like, and more importantly, were there yoga mats everywhere?

DEVON: No, no yoga mats, but lots of flowers. It was about 200 guests, and it was an A-list wedding of celebrities. Sting was there, Vin Diesel, Bono actually escorted Christy down the aisle. Christy's father actually died of lung cancer two years ago, so he stepped in there. It was a beautiful wedding. She wore a white Galliano (ph) gown with a veil. And they are both Catholic, so it was a Catholic ceremony.

WHITFIELD: All right, Sam Mendes and Kate Winslet. Kate Winslet, this is at least walking down the aisle, maybe the second time for her?

DEVON: It is the second time for her. And this was unique, because I don't think either one of them planned to get married. They actually went on a round the world vacation, and they were in the West Indies, and Kate's mother said, neither of them planned on getting married, the idea came up, they got married, sounded like a good idea, and they were on top of the world.

WHITFIELD: Well, that was secret enough. Just spontaneity ,that was the main ingredient.

All right, well, let's talk about another big wedding or anticipated wedding of the summer, J-Lo and Ben Affleck. What more have we learned about those wedding plans? Are they still on? Are they off? Where? And all that good stuff.

DEVON: Yes, I think they're definitely on. With his first wedding and it's going to be her third wedding, I think it's going to be a major blowout. We had some false alarms. People thought that they might tie the knot on valentine's day. But I definitely think it's coming up. I think it's going to be a big event. I think it's going to be very luxurious and lush, and it's going to be the event of the year, the wedding event of the year.

WHITFIELD: With all this pre-talk, there's no way they are trying to do a secret, kind of clandestine ceremony.

DEVON: Yes, and you know, they're actors, and they don't really do anything small, especially those two. I think it's going to be a very fun, wonderful event.

WHITFIELD: Kind of all inclusive. All right, Dana. Thanks very much, Dana Devon. Always good to see you. Appreciate.

DEVON: Thank you.
