CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Time to check the European financial markets, so let's head overseas and check in with Hala Gorani live from London.
Good morning -- Hala.

HALA GORANI, CNN FINANCIAL NEWS CORRESPONDENT: Good morning, Carol.

It's a pretty calm day overall on the indices across Europe. The FTSE, the DAX, the CAC in Paris, the SMI in Zurich and Switzerland are all only slightly lower with not much direction across the board.

Some news on the corporate front, though, Airbus scores again. Airbus, of course the European plane maker, it got an order, another big order, apparently, according to the French transport minister, from Qatar Airways. That's after it got an order earlier in the week for 41 planes by Emirates.

Well what this means is that it is outdoing its arch rival Boeing. In fact, the French transport minister is quoted as saying, "This means that Airbus, this European company, is easily outdoing its U.S. competitor." So this will give Boeing something to think about on the international plane in aviation market. And by the end of the year, we'll see who is able to outdo whom.

Back to you -- Carol.

COSTELLO: All right, Hala Gorani reporting live from London this morning.
