HEIDI COLLINS, CNN ANCHOR: Hollywood is abuzz with the May to September romance of Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore. Is it happiness, or just hype?
Michael Lewittes, news director at "US Weekly," is on the case, joining us now from New York this morning.

Hello to you. Thanks for being here.

So what's the deal? Is this real or what?

MICHAEL LEWITTES, "US WEEKLY": I think initially, a lot of us thought this was just another prank by Ashton Kutcher for his TV show "Punked." But the reality of it, is he's dating a woman who is 15 years older than him and he's very happy.

At first we had sightings of them in here in New York at a restaurant called La Bilba Kay (ph). I don't think they knew anyone was really watching them. And then they went to a club called Dorcea (ph). So people started getting suspicious there was something at that point, but then when they were spotted in Los Angeles having private dinners, and then when they spent Memorial Day weekend in the Bahamas together, people realized, this is just not a fling; these two people really like each other.

COLLINS: Michael, I got to tell you, just what we're seeing on the screen is we're watching Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher with her children, and Bruce Willis walking right behind them at the "Charlie's Angels" premiere last night. Was that kind of an odd scene, do you think?

LEWITTES: I think about a week ago, we'd have thought that was an odd scene. However, Ashton Kutcher did go to Haley, Idaho with Bruce and Demi about a week or a week and a half ago, and spent some two time with two of their children. In fact, Bruce thought he was a really great guy. I think Bruce, in an interview on "Good Morning America," said he's a good guy. And if she's happy and he's happy, so power to them.

COLLINS: And that's true, we have seen many a Hollywood couple differences in ages, and what's so different about this one? Why does anybody care?

LEWITTES: I think people care because he is really 15 years younger than she is, and his -- I'm sorry, her oldest daughter is closer in age to Ashton than he is to Demi. But interestingly enough, we at "US Weekly" spoke to Ashton's mom, and Ashton's mom is currently married to a man who is 10 years younger than she is. And she said, if I have no problem with it, why should I have a problem with it with my own son?

COLLINS: Hmm. interesting. All right. Well, anybody find it ironic that this is all going on about the same time as her big comeback? Especially with "Charlie's Angels" movie?

LEWITTES: Certainly, the timing is curious. However, this must have been a long planned out plot, because they really did start seeing each other more than two months ago. I mean, she -- I think the reason really why this is all happening, now that she's promoting this film, and she's getting back into Hollywood, she's spending more time in Los Angeles. She was spending so much time in Idaho, I don't think she really had the opportunity to go to clubs and meet men like Ashton.

So as soon as she started spending more time in Los Angeles, she started going out, having fun, and of course, she met Ashton, and we all know where that's going right now.

COLLINS: We do. Michael Lewittes from "US Weekly." We'll see how many more bikinis we can get on this show before the day is through. Thanks so much, Michael.

LEWITTES: Thank you.
