DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: Time to pack your things. More and more of us are getting out of the beach chair for an active vacation. There's skiing, biking, hiking, kayaking, canoeing just to list some of those. Anything but couch potato-ing.
Yesterday we showed you some exotic vacation destinations for the family. Today we're going extreme. Roseann Iovine is the president of Outdoor Travel Adventure and she is in San Diego this morning. Good morning to you. Thanks for getting up early.

ROSEANN IOVINE, OUTDOOR TRAVEL ADVENTURE: Good morning. It's not so early here now.

KAGAN: Not so early. Especially when you have adventures to go have, you know? Let's get right to some of them. Alaska, let's head north from where you are.

IOVINE: Yes, well, you know Alaska has been probably one of the most sought after spots in North America and often we forget that's it's right here in our own country. We have some wonderful adventure trips up there.

And I think one of the most popular things that we're seeing this season is that people are really interested in a multi-sport type of activity where you can do everything in one vacation or just about everything. So you can see all the nature and wildlife of Alaska while you're also doing some sea kayaking, some biking, taking a small cruise to see some glaciers. Just kind of getting it all in without packing in too much that you are trying to cover too much territory.

KAGAN: Is it too late to plan something like this?

IOVINE: Absolutely not. What we are seeing this year is a really late booking trend and it's no wonder with all that's happening in the world this year. We are finding that people are realizing its July now, people are planning a further July and August vacation. So I would encourage people if they don't have plans yet to consider you know trying to make them in the next couple of weeks.

KAGAN: All right, let's move east to Yellowstone.

IOVINE: Jackson Hole, Wyoming, one of the best places I think to start an adventure vacation. Same sort of principle. This particular multi-sport trip though is great because you have the opportunity to either choose to go on a camping departure if that's your thing, if not you can stay in inns and lodges. And also what's really interesting is not only do you have the biking, the hiking, the nature viewing, sort of riding your bikes through the Tetons, but also it's a great trip if you want to take a family. There's also a special departure for singles as well.

So I think what it's all about is making sure that you pick the right trip that's good for you. And that's one of the great things that we do is we do sort trip matchmaking, if you will. Making sure that we get people on the right trips so they can have a great time and really enjoy themselves.

KAGAN: We're going to combine exotic and extreme and head all the way to Fiji.

IOVINE: Yes. Now Fiji is one of the up and coming adventure destinations that we've just fallen in love with. Fiji has long been known for its beaches and its wonderful sort of relaxation location as a honeymoon destination, but Fiji's interiors are absolutely amazing when it comes to -- not only to river rafting, but sea kayaking that you can do.

One of the special parts of our trip is that we're able to actually sea kayak to a village that's really only reachable by boat or a kayak and stay overnight with the villagers and spend time there, really getting emerged in the culture.

And that's one of the best things about Fiji. If you don't know about Fijian people, they are probably the most friendliest people on this planet, not to mention their wonderful singing abilities. So that would be a top pick on my list. Definitely try to get out to Fiji especially if you want to do some exploring and then finish it off with some time at the beach.

KAGAN: You leave us with some great thoughts in our heads to daydream out the hour. We appreciate it. Roseann Iovine, thank you very much for the pictures and ideas.

IOVINE: Thank you.
