ANDERSON COOPER, CNN ANCHOR: Moving on. Not much progress to report in the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Patrick Dennehy.
The mystery continues. No body no weapon. Just questions at this time. Certainly, a lot of questions.

Police conducted a second search through a field in Waco, Texas, today. The Baylor University basketball player has now been missing three weeks. Ed Lavandera is following this closely. He joins us now with the latest -- Ed.

ED LAVANDERA, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Hi, Anderson.

Well, Waco police did return to that area northeast of the Waco area, some 50 acre area northeast of this city where they have been searching, made several attempts at searching. It's also an area where it's believed that Patrick Dennehy and his friend, Carlton Dotson, were believed to have been hanging out at some point. And that's why authorities returned there this morning.

But again, those searches have not provided any kind of clues or any kind of evidence, at least any that police are saying publicly at this point.

And police are also saying, acknowledging that Carlton Dotson remains a person of interest, although they also say they have several people that they are interested in looking at in connection with the disappearance of Patrick Dennehy.

Dotson's attorney says that all the information that came out in this affidavit that brought Carlton Dotson's name to the forefront earlier this week -- says at this point it's all wild rumors and you have to be careful about what you believe when you're getting information from a confidential informant -- Anderson.

COOPER: And we are certainly being careful in our reporting of all this. Ed Lavandera, thanks very much.
