FREDRICKA WHITFIELD, CNN ANCHOR: Well taking off on a business trip, perhaps, this morning? Let's get the early word on travel delays from our "Eye on the Sky" guy, Rally Caparas.
Good to see you -- Rally.

RALLY CAPARAS, AIR TRAFFIC SPECIALIST, TRAVELOCITY.COM: I'll tell you what, good to see you, too, Fredricka. It's been the worst week since that big winter storm we had back in January-February timeframe, remember that?

WHITFIELD: Yes.

CAPARAS: It's been an awful week, folks.

WHITFIELD: A lot of rain.

CAPARAS: Gosh, rain, thunderstorms. I'll tell you what, folks, if you're traveling in the northern tier of the United States, northeastern quarter of the U.S., you're going to see similar conditions that you saw yesterday, lots of delays, two and three-hour delays at Chicago, New York, Philadelphia. Here's what's going to happen today.

New York City and Philadelphia and add the D.C. Metros in, right now they're delay free. It should stay that way for most of the morning. And then the afternoon and evening will bring 60 to 90- minute arrival and departure delays. Low clouds, rain, en route thunderstorms, it's going to pop once again. Don't be surprised if those delays double what you see on the screen right there.

Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati-Covington, they saw lengthy delays also yesterday. Right now they're seeing some thunderstorm activity roll through the area. Expect 30 to 45-minute arrival and departure delays, low clouds and thunderstorms. The delay will fade during the middle part of the day. Then later on in the p.m., once again, those delays will pick back up so be prepared.

Minneapolis-St. Paul and the Great Lakes region, on the west side, 30 to 45-minute arrival and departure delays, low clouds, thunderstorms, limited flight routes, just about the entire day and evening there.

Chicago O'Hare and Midway, you've seen the worst of it. You saw three, four, five-hour delays yesterday. Well today it's going to be 60 to 90-minute arrival and departure delays. Low clouds, rain, strong gusting winds, en route thunderstorms, don't be surprised if there's a cancellation or two. Keep your eyes, or actually go online and check your schedules before you get -- head out to the airport today. Don't get on the phone, it's going to be a real tough job getting through to those people that are going to tell you what's happening with the airlines.

Houston, St. Louis Lambert, delay-free starts there, but mid to late afternoon and evening, you'll see 30 to 45-minute arrival and departure delays. Thunderstorm activity firing up along the Gulf Coast in the central U.S. limited flight routes for the eastern half.

The western half, it's like a whole other country over there, excellent conditions, beautiful weather. It's going to be a great day.

I'll be back tomorrow morning with the latest from Travelocity's "Eye on the Sky."

WHITFIELD: I'm glad you ended on a high note. I was getting a little depressed out there for the travelers.

CAPARAS: Me too. Me too.

WHITFIELD: It's looking ugly. All right.

CAPARAS: That it is.

WHITFIELD: Well, keeping it real for us. Thanks a lot -- Rally.

CAPARAS: Sure.
