CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Let's bring in David Clinch right now. Lots happening internationally, including a missing girl in France.
DAVID CLINCH, CNN SENIOR INTERNATIONAL EDITOR: Right. A story we're keeping an eye on, somewhat of a local story, but it does have some important international issues.

A young girl, a British girl about 12 years old missing for about three days from the U.K., thought to have gone away with a former U.S. Marine, who is about 31 years old, thought that the two of them went away to France together. But here is the caveat on this story. The 31-year-old Marine, having apparently communicated with this 12-year- old girl on the Internet and believed, according to the reports, that she said that she was 19 years of age.

So, we're not necessarily looking at it as abduction or him taking her away or knowing that she was 12 years of age. It may very well be that he, the former Marine who left the Marines just a few weeks ago, has met up with this girl and now realizes she is not 19.

COSTELLO: Yes.

CLINCH: And it may turn out not to be the story, but we're keeping an eye on it. It's always interesting, particularly when the issue that is global, that is of interest to all parents, of course, is the idea that this girl was apparently on the Internet hours on end talking to people, their parents not monitoring these conversations, and able to apparently communicate with this 31-year-old and tell him that she was 19.

Now, on the other hand, it may be more serious. Maybe he did know she was 12. Maybe he was soliciting her. We don't know. We're keeping an eye on that story.

COSTELLO: Gotcha.

CLINCH: Just very quickly, though, I heard our Gallup Poll man talking about the economy being the most important.

COSTELLO: Yes.

CLINCH: With U.S. troops staying in Iraq at $4 billion a month, those two stories are connected. So, the economy is not just domestic; it's also international.

COSTELLO: OK, and Richard Quest is still going to have that swan story?

CLINCH: Yes, he is going to talk about eating swans, but we'll have that story tomorrow morning from Richard Quest...

COSTELLO: All right, we're out of time.

CLINCH: ... and the royal swans.

COSTELLO: OK, thank you, David.
