Heavy Smoke Bellows in Baghdad, Possible Explosion

DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: We want to now continue the coverage out of Baghdad. When we were talking live to Rym Brahimi just a few minutes ago out of Baghdad, you could hear a number of gunshots in the background.
And we'll now look at this picture we're getting out of Baghdad, a lot of black smoke in the background. Of course, we're not exactly sure what that is right now, but we do have our crews on way to check it out.

This is the -- would have been the 35th anniversary of when the Baath Party came into power in Iraq, and it used to be a national holiday in Iraq, but the first thing that the governing council did when it convened as this new council, it eliminated that holiday. So, today is a day on edge in Baghdad and all across Iraq.

We'll continue to track this story out of Baghdad.
