DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: It is a big morning in Hollywood. The Emmy nominations were announced. If you were with us here on CNN, you saw them live.
You saw Jane Kaczmarek from "Malcolm in the Middle" make the announcement. She is joining us live, a big smile on her face because she found out this morning her fourth straight nomination. Congratulations.

JANE KACZMAREK, EMMY NOMINEE: Thank you, Daryn. Thank you very much.

KAGAN: It was little piece of reality television to watch you do these announcements, because when...

KACZMAREK: I...

KAGAN: Go ahead, you explain.

KACZMAREK: Well, I was just stunned. I thought they might give you a little clue that you had or hadn't gotten nominated before we got up there, and they don't. We went through a rehearsal, and they kept certain names out. So, Michael Chiklis, who presented with me, and I were totally in the dark and thought, well, we guess we got overlooked because our names weren't included in the list of nominees.

So, it was about as much reality television as I ever want to experience.

KAGAN: Well, and you can't see the screen right now, but our viewers are watching as Michael Chiklis is announcing the nominations for best actress in a comedy series. And our viewers are going to see your reaction. What they don't know is earlier when -- there you go, kissing the ground. You're relieved, because earlier when "Malcolm in the Middle" could have been nominated for the most outstanding comedy series, it did not get a nomination. So, there was definitely some disappointment there, I imagine.

KACZMAREK: Yes. It was great. "Malcolm in the Middle" this year was sensational. The writing is sharper than ever. There were great, great stories. And that a big disappointment.

KAGAN: Well, let's talk about the excitement in your household there. Sharing the love, your husband, Bradley Whitford, who plays Josh Lymon on "The West Wing," also nominated.

KACZMAREK: Right. He was nominated. He is at home with horrible kidney stones.

KAGAN: Oh, no!

KACZMAREK: And getting the call from me this morning that he was nominated I think maybe made him feel better than the Vicodin. So, I'm grateful to the academy for giving him some pain relief.

KAGAN: That's the best kind of drug and pain relief you can get in Hollywood, isn't it?

KACZMAREK: I don't know, Daryn.

KAGAN: Well, of course, there's a lot going around in Hollywood. We won't go there. But he's actually won, so you have an Emmy in your household.

KACZMAREK: Yes, yes, he won the first year he was nominated, which was very exciting and it kind of takes the pressure off. He is very thrilled. You know, you just can't believe that enough people put a -- circle your name with a pencil when these ballots go out. And it is an honor to be nominated, and it's as exciting every year as it was the first year. So, I'm very grateful.

Also, Bryan Cranston, who plays my husband on "Malcolm," was nominated, and Cloris Leachman, who plays my mother on "Malcolm", was nominated.

KAGAN: Oh, excellent!

KACZMAREK: It's a real family affair.

KAGAN: So, it's going to be an exciting night. So, this will be the fourth year in a row. It really doesn't get a little old to stand up and make hurray when someone else's name is called?

KACZMAREK: Well, you know what's happening? I mean, you start thinking that the end is near, and, you know, one of these years you're not going to get nominated. So, when they do read -- when Michael read my name, it was a great elixir.

Also, Brad and I started a charity last year called the Clothes off our Back. And it's exactly that. We got the Emmy nominees and presenters to donate their gowns and their tuxedos to charity. We're going to be on eBay this year for two weeks after the Emmys. Clothes off your Back is the charity, and it's benefiting Cure Autism Now and the Union of Concerned Scientists, a bipartisan environmental group. We raised close to $100,000 last year, so I'm looking forward to all of the celebrities giving us the clothes off their back again.

KAGAN: Excellent. Well, the best of luck with that.

KACZMAREK: Thank you.

KAGAN: The best of luck on Emmy night in September, I think it's the 21st, and your family, very blessed and very lucky right now to have so much going well. KACZMAREK: We sure are.

KAGAN: We didn't even get to the part about how you do it all and have the kids and the whole thing. That will be another time. Congratulations.

KACZMAREK: Thanks, Daryn. Thank you very much.

KAGAN: We'll let you go because you have to go find the dress. Jane Kaczmarek, "Malcolm in the Middle," getting her fourth Emmy nomination.
