DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: If you're with us about three hours ago, you saw the Emmy nominations announced live, announced right here on CNN. A big day in Hollywood and a big day for this lady, Patricia Heaton from "Everybody Loves Raymond." She's won before, but she has yet another nomination for her role as Ray Ramono's wife. Very, very funny lady, laughing all the way to the Emmy. And she is joining us this morning from Los Angeles.
Good morning and congratulations.

PATRICIA HEATON, ACTRESS: Thank you. I was wondering if it would happen this year. You kind of think people get sick of you after a while, but apparently not.

KAGAN: Well, apparently not. CBS isn't sick of you, the fans aren't sick of you and the Emmy voters are not.

HEATON: Ray could be sick of me.

KAGAN: Ray might. We'll have to call him and see.

You're making him look pretty good, so probably not.

But what about the show doing so well, 13 nominations for "Everybody Loves Raymond."

HEATON: Isn't that great? I just have always felt that I think we know that it's an ensemble show, and it's very hard to pick a show to submit when you're nominated, because usually everyone has a very strong part in every episode. So -- and this is going to be our last year, I think, you know, it's even more meaningful, and I'm really looking -- the Emmy I'm looking forward to this year is for the show. I'm hoping that happens for us.

KAGAN: Which of all the honors and all the success, that has not happened yet for the show, has it?

HEATON: Yes, but I think because we're drawing to a close, that perhaps people will take this opportunity to acknowledge the great work of Phil Rosenthal, and Ray the rest of the writers.

KAGAN: And just looking at the cast, I was checking the Web site, ever lead (UNINTELLIGIBLE) Robert, Peter Boyle, Brad Garrett, Ray, you, you're all are with nominations.

HEATON: That's great. I didn't realize everybody -- and I think Brad has another one for his portrayal of Jackie Gleason, which was phenomenal, too. So, you know, that just makes it a big party.

And you know what, we always have a great time together at work and at these award shows, even though the show usually walks away empty handed. It's just become kind of our thing, and we have a great time. It really doesn't matter what happens. We have been lucky to have this kind of run on this kind of show.

KAGAN: And you mentioned, this will be the last season, so does this make all the laughs a little bit bittersweet.

HEATON: It does. I was talking to our producer about it, and I think it makes it even more special. Every year has been great, and the show just keeps getting better, and I think this year, because Brad Garrett's character is married and we have these new in-laws, Fred Willard, George Engle (ph) and Chris Elliott, that they're really spicing up the mix, and I think we're going to have some great really funny new episodes this year.

KAGAN: Well, we wish you well. We'll look for you on the red carpet. Patricia Heaton, congratulations to you and everybody at "Everybody Loves Raymond," because apparently, a lot of people really do.

HEATON: Thank you.
