DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: How does he do it? It is time now for...
LEON HARRIS, CNN ANCHOR: Why does he do it?

KAGAN: That is a much bigger question. It's time now for a little bit of magic, talk about living your fondest dream. Is it to see a your loved one again, or perhaps win the Lottery? We have with us now David Copperfield, the master illusionist. His new tour is opening tonight in Miami. He promises to film it on a grand scale. He is with us today to give us a glimpse of the show, which he says has never been done before.

Tough business, you always have to top yourself.

DAVID COPPERFIELD, MAGICIAN: Like you guys, just waiting for something crazy to happen.

KAGAN: But you create your own stories here.

COPPERFIELD: Actually, my stories are really based on people's dreams. This whole show is really rooted in what people really dream about, because nobody wakes up in the morning and says, I'm going to make the Statue of Liberty disappear.

KAGAN: Except you.

COPPERFIELD: Except me, that's true. All right, nobody really -- a real person dreams about pulling a rabbit out of the hat, but people dream about winning the lottery. I'll do a whole piece involving the audience showing how it is possible to win the lottery, or travel around the world, or be reunited with a loved one. So it's really dreams, real things, and it's very emotional, and it's a big spectacular show, and we're on tour right now.

KAGAN: Want to get to the show in a minute. First, let's talk about Project Magic. This is something very near and dear to your heart.

COPPERFIELD: Sure. It's a program that uses magic as a form of therapy for people with disabilities. We talk to patients in hospitals to help them regain their dexterity and their coordination by learning sleight of hand, in addition to boosting the patient's self esteem by giving them a skill that an able-bodied person doesn't have, and we actually teach magic to patients in hospitals.

KAGAN: And you brought me a piece of this magic. COPPERFIELD: I'm going to show you something really cool.

KAGAN: Something simple, like rubber bands.

COPPERFIELD: This little piece of slight of hand. Nice, tight shot of my fingers here.

KAGAN: John can take care of that.

COPPERFIELD: Zoom right in there.

We have two rubber bands. One is inside the other. you can see that, just like that. Really tight, there it is. But watch, they'll seem to kind of...

KAGAN: Now, how did you do that? Very good.

COPPERFIELD: Would you like to see that again?

KAGAN: Yes, really quickly, because we want to get another trick in, that's the only reason why.

COPPERFIELD: It's inside there, it's...

KAGAN: All right. Excellent. I don't know how you did it, but it's incredible.

COPPERFIELD: I don't know either.

KAGAN: You don't, you just do it.

Grand Illusion Tour, you say tonight in Miami, going...

COPPERFIELD: Miami, then Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale. Atlanta right here in Atlanta on July 26th and 27th.

KAGAN: You brought me -- I called it a trick. You corrected me. It's not a trick; it's a piece of magic. You brought out something with ropes.

COPPERFIELD: This is a project magic thing if you want to try that. This is how to tie a knot in a rope without letting go of the ends.

KAGAN: Hopefully, I will not fail you here.

COPPERFIELD: Start like this, go around the arm. Exactly, and down. Exactly.

KAGAN: I've already messed up here.

COPPERFIELD: You're doing good. You're doing good.

In this hole, in this loop here -- start again.

KAGAN: OK. COPPERFIELD: We have plenty of time, don't worry.

KAGAN: Yes, hopefully. Wolf won't care if we take time from his show.

COPPERFIELD: Make two loops, in this side, out this side, out there. Exactly. Good, don't let go. Watch me first. You'll have a knot and you will have...

KAGAN: A mess.

COPPERFIELD: Nothing! She's very good. Very, very good.

KAGAN: Was I supposed to have nothing?

COPPERFIELD: No.

KAGAN: I was supposed to have a knot? I think I better stick...

COPPERFIELD: That was a trick, actually.

KAGAN: I better stick with the news job.

COPPERFIELD: I think you do it very well.

KAGAN: Well, thank you so much. I think the women on your show will have to help you out. David Copperfield, Grand Illusion. Folks can look for the show all over the country. Thank you so much. Appreciate it.
