HEIDI COLLINS, CNN ANCHOR: Investigators in Santa Monica, California, are looking into whether Russell Weller was speeding away from another accident Wednesday when he plowed through a farmers' market killing 10 people. This news comes as the market reopens and mourners prepare for a memorial service.
CNN's Miguel Marquez is there.

Good morning to you, Miguel.

MIGUEL MARQUEZ, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Good morning. How are you?

The market is going to open today. We are at the corner where it will be going off, Arizona and 3rd, the promenade here in Santa Monica. You can see the memorial continues to grow, the cards, the flowers, the candles, the stuffed animals, just about everything out there.

Twelve-fifteen Pacific Time, there will be a memorial in this spot as well to remember the victims. Those victims -- they range in age and everything. It's quite amazing.

Brendon Esfahani, only 7 months old, died that day. He's being held by his grandmother in a picture that we have. She also died here.

Molock Ghoulian -- or Ghoulian -- excuse me.

Gloria Gonzalez died.

Lynne Ann Weaver. She's the daughter-in-law of Dennis Weaver.

Movsha Hoffman died.

And a husband and wife also died here that day, Kevin and Dianna McCarthy.

The market was just winding down on Wednesday when an 86-year-old behind the wheel of his Buick went careening the length of it, hitting person after person. He told police his foot may have slipped off the brake and hit the gas.

The police now investigating the entire situation and will turn their findings over to the D.A. in the next week or two -- actually, two or three weeks at this point, and the D.A. may bring manslaughter charges at some point. It's amazing how this tragedy has touched the entire community. There's a small Chinese restaurant down the corner here. I was down there yesterday. There's a bucket on the counter asking for donations to help the family of one of the co-workers there. His daughter -- 7- year-old daughter died in this tragedy.

I'm sure it's going to be a very difficult day today. Talking to some of the farmers already setting up here today, and they said they don't expect a very busy day, but you might be surprised.

Back to you.

COLLINS: Miguel Marquez, thanks very much.
