CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: And now it's time for some more business buzz. Life is getting so much better for the couch potato. There's a new cable box with even more funky features.
Carrie Lee has the details.

Good morning.

CARRIE LEE, CNN FINANCIAL NEWS CORRESPONDENT: Good morning, Carol.

You know this is one of the good things about technology, as things advance, they often get simpler. So rather than five remote controls, things like that, this is a good time to, perhaps, consolidate your technology going forward.

Charter Communications is about to roll out a cable box that will actually decrease your cables. Now these new loaded boxes do more than bring just cable channels, they can play DVDs, music, also show off digital pictures. And you will be able to hook up to the Internet and you can even watch two televisions, two programming, two different programs on two different TVs at the same time, so quite an advancement here.

The idea isn't actually new. They've had this technology for quite some time, but they didn't think that the marketplace was ready for it. And so the idea like this has never rolled out beyond test marketing, but now cable -- now Charter Communications is set to roll this out in the fall.

The idea here, in part, is to compete with satellite television. And this new box is going to be made by Motorola. And, Carol, first advertised in Rochester, Minnesota, of all places. So it looks like things getting more technologically advanced and simpler. A nice pairing of two ideas here.

COSTELLO: I don't know, you always wonder how much your cable bill will go up or how much that cable box will cost you?

LEE: Not sure about the pricing on this. That's a good point. I guess we'll have to see a little bit later on. But the fact that you can do so many different things and the television set is actually the conduit or the channel for it, pun intended there, so looks like -- looks like a good technological advancement.

COSTELLO: Talk about multitasking, two programs at once, unbelievable. LEE: Right, so if you want to watch one program, you work early hours, your spouse or somebody's spouse wants to do something else, makes it easier on that front, too.

COSTELLO: Certainly so.

Carrie Lee live from New York this morning.
