PAULA ZAHN, CNN ANCHOR: A lot of movement today in the case of missing Baylor basketball star Patrick Dennehy. It turns out Dennehy's best friend, the man charged in his killing, may have incriminated himself in an interview with authorities.
Gary Tuchman is standing by live from Waco, Texas, with the very latest on that.

Good evening, Gary.

GARY TUCHMAN, CNN NATIONAL CORRESPONDENT: Paula, good evening to you.

The body of Patrick Dennehy has not been found yet. The search continues. But his former roommate and so-called best friend has been arrested and charged with his murder. His name is Carlton Dotson. He's in a prison right now in Maryland. Police say, on his own volition, he checked into a hospital on Sunday and then, on Monday, without his attorney present, called the FBI and said he wanted to talk.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SGT. RYAN HOLT, WACO POLICE DEPARTMENT: Mr. Dotson provided specific information about the murder of Mr. Dennehy that would lead us to believe that he committed the murder.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

TUCHMAN: Now, Patrick Dennehy has been missing since June 12. Dotson's attorney tells CNN that his client has publicly said he does not confess to the murder.

And the inference from this attorney is that perhaps he was forced to talk to police without his attorney and did not do it voluntarily. Either way, Dotson remains in that prison near his home of Hurlock, Maryland. He's fighting extradition back to the state of Texas. An extradition hearing will be held next month -- Paula, back to you.

ZAHN: Thanks so much, Gary -- Gary Tuchman reporting from Waco, Texas, tonight.
