HEIDI COLLINS, CNN ANCHOR: Police in Texas are assuming they have found the body of missing Baylor University basketball player Patrick Dennehy. Forensic investigators hope to make a positive identification soon.
CNN'S Mike Brooks has the very latest now from Waco, where the badly decomposed body was found on Friday.

Hi, Mike.

MIKE BROOKS, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Good morning again, Heidi. That badly decomposed body was found in a gravel pit four miles from the Baylor University campus, just outside of Waco.

The body was taken to a forensics lab in Dallas for identification and also for an autopsy, but it could be days before an identification is made.

The 21-year old six foot 10 inch Dennehy was expected to be a standout basketball player for Baylor University this coming season. Meanwhile, his former teammate and friend, Carlton Dotson, sits in a jail cell in Kent County, Maryland, accused of his murder.

Dotson is fighting extradition back to Texas, and is expected to be back in court in Kent County on August 19. For another extradition hearing -- Heidi.

COLLINS: So is that the next step, then, Mike? Assuming that they do make this positive identification of Patrick Dennehy, is that what happens next in the whole case?

BROOKS: That's exactly what happens next. The investigators will continue with their investigation. I asked a question the other day, were there any other suspects? They would not say that there were, but they wouldn't say there weren't. So they still have a lot of leads to follow up on, and then the next court hearing to bring Dotson back here to Waco is on August 19 in Kent County, Maryland. He is fighting extradition and it should be interesting. A lot more to come -- Heidi.

COLLINS: All right. CNN's Mike Brooks, in Waco this morning. Thanks, Mike.
