CHUCK ROBERTS, CNN ANCHOR: In days of old when knights were bold, they road Percheron horses, and now, an ancestor of that ancient breed is turning heads in Texas. Jason Clark of CNN affiliate KTAL introduces us to Goliath.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JASON CLARK, KTAL NEWS, TEXAS (voice-over): At first glance, this seems to be your average equine. That is until you get a little closer and you'll see nothing is typical about this horse.

This is Goliath, the world's tallest horse.

CLARK: The Percheron measures in at 6'5". But that's just from Goliath's back. In fact, he stands well over eight feet tall.

Well, for men vertically challenged like me, it's a long ways down.

CLARK: After 30 years of being a vet, Dr. Bill Howard has never seen horse like this.

DR. BILL HOWARD, VETERINARIAN: Never this size, no, sir, not this size.

CLARK: And after a few quick measurements, the horse will now go down in the Guinness Book Of World Records.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We're awful proud today. We've been looking for this opportunity for quite some time.

CLARK: At nine years old, Goliath weighs in at 2,500 pound. He eats 19 pounds of grain and drinks 30 gallons of water a day. Despite his size, Goliath is also known as the gentle giant.

CLARK (on camera): Is that the biggest horse you've ever seen?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes.

CLARK: Goliath seems to agree and was certainly fond of our camera. The horse named Goliath is standing tall after making his way into the record books.

In Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Jason Clark, KTAL News Channel 6.
