CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: If you're starting off your week with a trip to the airport, you want to stick around for just a second because Rally Caparas is here, our traffic expert, to tell us of any delays.
RALLY CAPARAS, AIR TRAFFIC SPECIALIST, TRAVELOCITY.COM: Well, Carol, you remember last week, it was just last week, right?

COSTELLO: Yes.

CAPARAS: The worst week so far this year. Monday was terrible. Today is a little bit different story, folks, good news for a change. It's going to be a pretty smooth day for most of you, especially in the East Coast. There will be some delays later on this afternoon and evening, however.

Up in New York and Boston, very nice conditions, good travel conditions, on-time schedules. But Philadelphia and the D.C. Metros, they're delay free early, and it'll stay that way until around 3:00 or 4:00 in the afternoon, then you'll start to see some low clouds, some thunderstorm activity. En route thunderstorms primarily will block routes into and out of those major airports. Expect 45 to 60-minute arrival and departure delays as those thunderstorms develop along a frontal boundary that's splitting the United States north and south all the way back into the Midwest to the East Coast.

Pittsburgh and Charlotte this morning, we'll see 30 to 45-minute arrival delays, low clouds and fog, obscured visibility, IFR conditions, instrument flight rules. It's going to slow things down -- excuse me -- it'll burn off later this afternoon for on-time schedules thereafter.

Orlando, Miami and Fort Lauderdale airports down in the state of Florida, they'll see seasonal thunderstorm activity later on this afternoon and evening. That means 30 to 45-minute arrival and departure delays as some of the routes are blocked into and out of the state of Florida.

Cincinnati-Covington and St. Louis airports, they're sitting right along that frontal boundary. You can expect 45 to 60-minute arrival and departure delays just about the entire day off and on. Low clouds, fog, thunderstorm activity, limited routes the problems there.

And then out west, it's Las Vegas and Phoenix. They've seen this several days in a row now, about four or five days in a row, it'll be 30 to 45-minute arrival and departure delays, low clouds, thunderstorm activity, limited flight routes.

The rest of the country is looking pretty good. A much better start compared to last week, Carol, I'll be back in the morning.

COSTELLO: Definitely so.

CAPARAS: Yes.

COSTELLO: Thank you, Rally, we appreciate it.

CAPARAS: You're welcome.
