CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: In the search for Saddam Hussein, some big results. A Saddam Hussein bodyguard, two associates now in custody. The raid occurred in Saddam Hussein's ancestral hometown of Tikrit. That's where a lot of raids have been going on recently.
Our Harris Whitbeck has more.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

HARRIS WHITBECK, CNN CORRESPONDENT: One of them, a bodyguard to Saddam Hussein, a high ranking bodyguard and (AUDIO GAP) hometown. An early morning raid staged by members of the U.S. Army's 4th Infantry Division netted one of Saddam Hussein's bodyguards. Also two more close associates were captured. Commanding officers on the ground say that these targets were very important and they feel that the raid was very successful.

They also were able to take documents and photographs from the houses they raided, information that they believe will give good intelligence that might help lead U.S. soldiers towards Saddam Hussein.

Again, Tikrit is his hometown and intelligence information received over the last several days indicated that he might have been in this area. Intelligence reports received this weekend indicated that Saddam Hussein himself might be on one of three farms owned by some of his most trusted family members. Those farms located close to the Tigris River here in Tikrit. Again, the raids are ongoing and they are meant for high value human targets, but also looking for arms caches and other documents and other information that might lead to those members of the Saddam Hussein regime who are still at large.

Harris Whitbeck, CNN, Tikrit, Iraq.
