UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Around and around and around, we're only beginning folks. Only Beginning! On and on and on! And when will it stop? When will it end? When? Only when the last two of these wonderful starry eyed kids are left.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
ANDERSON COOPER, CNN ANCHOR: Dance marathons, not counting the movie they shoot horses don't they, on my place on the weekend?
The longest dance party marathon was a 50-hour fest held in record crazy India. That's right. But right now a bunch of crazy kids at the Rock and Roll Hall of fame are set on braking that record. Saint Joseph aspirin are sponsoring it to raise awareness of cardio- friendly activities. They started at 5:00 a.m. yesterday and now taking a break to join us organizer Valerie Salstrom and fellow dancer Ben Rich and Dick and Jan Hurwits. Appreciate you joining us.
Valerie, I understand the only person to have dropped off so far was your original partner, what happened?
Apparently they're so dance crazy they can't hear me.
Valerie can you hear me? Nope.
How about Ben. Ben do you hear me?
BEN RICH, TRYING TO BREAK DANCE MARATHON RECORD: Yes, I heard you fine.
COOPER: Ben, how is it going for you. You've been dancing, I guess you have about 12 more hours to reach the record, how are you feeling?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I'm feeling good. He everything below the waste is not working as it did yesterday, that's for sure.
COOPER: I guess you're dancing while you're talking to us.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes.
COOPER: What kind of breaks do you get. We get -- here at the Saint Joseph Aspirin Heart Health (UNINTELLIGIBLE), we get the 10-minute break every hour and then every eight hours we get a 15-minute break where the whole place shuts down and we all try to take a nap.
COOPER: You have actually slept anything?
RICH: After dancing for about 24, 36 hours, yes, you do get to sleep pretty quickly.
COOPER: What do you do pass the time?
RICH: Well, a variety of things. You can swap dance moves with fellow people. You can play tag, you can play charades. As long as you keep your feet moving you can do anything your mind can think of.
COOPER: Let's switch to Jan and Dick. I know your partners here. You're a little bit older than a lot of others who are in this.
How are you holding up?
DICK HURWITZ, TRYING TO BREAK DANCE MARATHON RECORD: We're holding up fine we're doing great.
COOPER: What's the hardest part?
D. HURWITZ: Well, the hardest part is probably dealing with the fact we are older and everybody expects us to fail. But we're not going to.
COOPER: No. -- go ahead.
JAN HURWITZ, TRYING TO BREAK DANCE MARATHON RECORD: I was having a hard time sleeping, unlike the younger folks who are falling asleep right away.
COOPER: I know there are 12 hours left to go. Do you think you're going to make it?
J. HURWITZ: Yes.
D. HURWITZ: For sure.
J. HURWITZ: Definitely.
D. HURWITZ: No problem.
COOPER: Valerie, I don't know if you're able to hear me. Valerie, I know your dance partner was the only person to have dropped out so far, what happened?
VALERIE SALSTROM, ORGANIZER, DANCER: I'm sorry. Say it again.
COOPER: I understand your dance partner dropped out. What happened?
SALSTROM: Sorry. Say it again.
COOPER: Forget it. You lost your shot. Your dance partner was the only one to drop out. What happened?
SALSTROM: He was going to blow out a knee, so he decided to take it easy and play it safe and remove himself from the contest.
COOPER: All right Well, Valerie, Ben, and Jan and Dick, good luck to you. You have about 12 hours left to go. Keep on dancing. And appreciate you joining us, thanks.
SALSTROM: We are going to break world record and help Saint Joseph's tell the world about cardiovascular health.
COOPER: Nice little plug for the aspirin. Let's move along. Thanks very much. Appreciate it.
