CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, they're a Hollywood couple everybody is talking about. Now their new movie "Gigli" opens today and no doubt it will create more buzz.
But as CNN's Andy Culpepper reports, J. Lo says she did not fall in love with Ben until after the film.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: You know how to whistle, don't you, Steve? You just put your lips together and blow.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDY CULPEPPER, CNN CORRESPONDENT:

(voice-over): Bogie and Bacall, Burton and Taylor, Tom and Nicole. Now, Ben and J. Lo? Every era in Hollywood has featured one celebrity couple more celebrated than any other. Today, few would argue that distinction belongs to Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP FROM "GIGLI") BEN AFFLECK, COSTAR, "GIGLI": Do we know each other?

JENNIFER LOPEZ, COSTAR, "GIGLI": Not yet.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

CULPEPPER: Now, Ben and J. Lo are starring in their first film together, "Gigli." When they filmed it, they weren't yet a couple.

LOPEZ: We were just kind of getting to know each other and becoming friends. It's funny to look at it now and see us kind of acting like we were in love and all that, you know what I mean? So it's great. It's great to look at.

CULPEPPER: They say any publicity is good publicity. But for Ben and Jen, that may not apply.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP FROM "GIGLI")

AFFLECK: I've got a confession. I think we're good together.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

CULPEPPER: Some wonder if their private lives will overshadow their professional work together.

LOPEZ: I do worry about it. Like now that the movie is coming out and there's been so much press on us, you know, I feel like ah, I wish that people could go in without the extra baggage.

AFFLECK: I think it's a double-edged sword. I think it can also help. I think it can -- it certainly generates attention and in a crowded marketplace, that's valuable.

CULPEPPER: The couple has completed another movie together, "Jersey Girl," which will debut some time next year.

KEVIN SMITH, DIRECTOR, "JERSEY GIRL": Having been around that relationship for five months very intimately every day, I mean, that relationship ain't going anywhere. That dude will get old with her. They're really, really tight.

CULPEPPER: Time will tell whether Ben and Jen become the Hollywood couple of their generation. But, with two movies coming out and a wedding in the future, for Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, life is good.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP FROM "GIGLI")

AFFLECK: I don't know what that means, but it sounds beautiful.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

CULPEPPER: Andy Culpepper, CNN, Los Angeles.
