CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: A bombing in the new Iraq. Target: Jordan's embassy. We know at least five U.S.-trained Iraqi police officers are among the 10 people who were killed, and there were cheers from onlookers.
Let's go live to the phone lines now and Harris Whitbeck.

Harris -- describe the scene for us.

HARRIS WHITBECK, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Carol, the area has been secured by the U.S. military. They are using Humvees and armored vehicles to cordon off the area in front of the bombed-out diplomatic compound.

The entire facade of this building completely collapsed when the car bomb went off. That explosion occurred about two and a half hours ago. Several vehicles that were in the vicinity were also blown up.

And, again, as far the number of those who were affected by this, there were several wounded, dozens of people who were wounded, several dead, including five Iraqi policemen and, according to the latest report, at least four people -- four Jordanians who were inside the diplomatic compound.

As you might imagine, it's difficult to get any information live out of Baghdad, but we do have this live picture of the Jordanian embassy in Baghdad. As Harris said, 10 are dead, including some Jordanian diplomats; five Iraqi police officers also dead.

He did not mention any injuries to Americans. We're still checking on that. And, of course, we don't know exactly who is to blame.

After the bomb went off though, and the scene was partially cleared, looters went into the Jordanian embassy and began tearing down pictures of King Hussein and King Abdullah.

We're going to have more information for you as it becomes available, and when we get Harris Whitbeck back.
