CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Time to check on stories making headlines around the world in our global minute.
In northern India, flash floods have killed 14 workers who were asleep in their tents. Another 18 were injured. The workers were building a tunnel near a popular summer resort town.

If your dog is overworked and stressed out, why not send him to The Paws Hotel in Germany? It's billed as a luxury hotel for pets and will open in a couple of months. But some of the exclusive suites are already being booked.

Let's head live to London for our Euro Edition with Hala Gorani -- Hala, give us some more global headlines.

HALA GORANI, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Well, Carol, most of the newspapers in the U.K., at least, are headlining research from cancer -- a research study from Cancer Research U.K. saying that global hormone replacement therapy probably leads to more cases of cancer in women. And many menopausal women, to alleviate some of the symptoms of menopause, of course -- hot flashes, that kind of thing -- take HRT in the U.K., almost two million women.

And this research, which was a record number of people evaluated and monitored, a million women, says that this form of treatment trial alleviate the symptoms of menopause could lead to 2,000 additional cases of breast cancer a year. So many of the papers are leading with this, "HRT Can Double Risk of Breast Cancer," and this is one of the things that most of the daily papers are leading with today.

Lots of reaction to Arnold Schwarzenegger saying that he's running for the post of governor of California. "Schwarzenegger Follows Reagan's Lead" is one of the articles, and this is in the left-leaning "Independent." They have two columns here, one comparing Arnold Schwarzenegger, the other comparing Ronald Reagan, "The Terminator Versus The Gipper."

Some of the things they say, "Arnold Schwarzenegger -- can he speak English? Well, the grammar is off and the accent's quirky, but more often than not people find that charming." They say, "The gipper, could he speak English? Well, when reading from a script, yes," that kind of thing. They're taking this in a very tongue and cheek way.

And "The Guardian," for instance, in the editorial, also a left- leaning daily paper among the broadsheets, says, you know, the difference between Hollywood and politics is that in politics your past matters. And they're saying this with the rumors, of course, out there that Arnold Schwarzenegger, according to at least one magazine article a few years ago, has a womanizing past and his father's political affiliations in the Nazi Party and that kind of thing.

Here we have "Governator Sets His Sights On New Californians." And they're saying the announcement during the late night interview with Jay Leno was a triumph of Hollywood stuntmanship over political substance.

That's a quick look at what the U.K. is saying about Arnold Schwarzenegger -- back to you, Carol.

COSTELLO: I think your past in politics in America only matters if you're dishonest about it. So, see, there's the difference between what you guys over there think versus what we think. I don't know.

Hala Gorani, many thanks, live from London this morning.
