FREDRICKA WHITFIELD, CNN ANCHOR: Well today is not just your ordinary Friday, it is "Freaky Friday." And it's a film that is an updated version of the one Disney made about 30 years ago with Jodie Foster.
Well film reviewer Russ Leatherman, aka "Mr. Moviefone" is with us from Los Angeles to tell us about that movie and a couple others that we could check out this weekend. Good to see you, Russ.

RUSS LEATHERMAN, "MR. MOVIEFONE": Hey, happy "Freaky Friday," party girl.

WHITFIELD: Happy "Freaky Friday." All right, is it worth seeing double? Seeing it once again after you've seen the old one?

LEATHERMAN: You know I think this movie's a really nice surprise. We've had a summer of kind of explosions and TNT and everything else. And this is a nice summer movie that really the whole family an enjoy, Jamie Lee Curtis, Lindsey Lohan.

It is a story about a mother and daughter who end up switching bodies through a magical spell. And they both really do a fantastic job. Jamie Lee Curtis has probably never been better. Everybody can enjoy it, the kids teenagers, parents. So I say get your freak on and go see "Freaky Friday."

WHITFIELD: Well it looks like she had a lot of fun doing this movie too, Jamie Lee Curtis.

LEATHERMAN: Well I think she did. And it shows in the movie. It shows that everybody had fun. It also shows that a nice script, good acting can make a good movie. So in a summer that's been sort of disappointing to date, this is a really nice surprise.

WHITFIELD: All right. So if you don't want to get your freak on, then maybe you can "SWAT." So "SWAT" is out. You know Samuel L. Jackson, Colin Farrell, LL Cool J. All right, so a lot of headliners.

LEATHERMAN: Well first of all who doesn't want to get their freak on? OK? Everybody I know.

But SWAT is really the last big summer action movie that everybody's sort of been looking forward to. And this movie is not going to save the summer. It's not going to kill the summer either. It's really sort of an average action picture.

The dialogue is really sort of cliche. The action, the suspense is not particularly suspenseful. But you do have some great actors. You have Colin Farrell running around with no shirt on, and he's hunk- a-licious, I'm sure. So the ladies might like him.

WHITFIELD: But you know what? Nothing is average if Samuel L. Jackson is in it. That's just my commentary for the day.

LEATHERMAN: Well by the way that's what makes movie reviewing happen and the world go round. Everybody's got an opinion.

But this isn't one of his better movies. I mean he's perfectly fine in the movie but he's done better work and Colin Farrell has done better work.

But it's an OK movie. I don't want to dissuade anybody from seeing it, but don't be, you know, expecting too much either.

But I have to say get your freak on with "Freaky Friday."

WHITFIELD: I see you're really pushing for that.

All right, well Kate Hudson has been very busy, hasn't she, with all movies coming out? This latest one being "Le Divorce."

LEATHERMAN: "Le Divorce." Yes, Kate Hudson, Naomi Watts. This is a nice movie. They go to France and it's really sort of a fish out of water type of comedy.

And again, I haven't seen this movie but from what I hear, it's pretty good. So if you want to go check out a comedy, this might be one to see. I haven't seen it, but I hear it's pretty good.

WHITFIELD: All right, Mr. Moviefone, good to see you, Russ.

LEATHERMAN: We'll see you next time. Get your freak on!

WHITFIELD: Get your freak on! It's "Freaky Friday." All right, take care.
