CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: We begin with a developing story this morning. We're still trying to determine what exactly happened in Iraq. We know an improvised bomb exploded, killing an American.
Live to Baghdad and Harris Whitbeck, who has been working this story.

Good morning -- Harris.

HARRIS WHITBECK, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Good morning once again, Carol.

The attack on U.S. forces is very similar to those that have occurred over the last several weeks. This time, three soldiers from the 4th Infantry Division involved in an attack. They were guarding a police station in Baquba north of Baghdad, when an improvised explosive device was launched against them. One U.S. soldier was killed and two more were wounded.

The U.S. Army's 4th I.D. is intensifying its hunt for those who might be behind that type of attack, and they are fanning out from urban centers in Tikrit into the nearby countryside to look for Saddam loyalists and those who might be attacking them -- Carol.

COSTELLO: Harris Whitbeck reporting live from Baghdad this morning.
