CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: A close call in West Virginia, but it's fueled the fear again. Another possible sniper shooting and yet another convenience store.
Live to Dunbar near Charleston, West Virginia, and CNN investigative correspondent Art Harris.

Good morning -- Art.

ART HARRIS, CNN INVESTIGATIVE CORRESPONDENT: Good morning, Carol.

Let me tell you what's happening this morning. Early this morning near Charleston, West Virginia, another high-speed chase -- or a high-speed of a possible suspect, who gets away, shortly after shots are fired outside another convenience store and barely miss a 16-year- old girl.

It was just after 11:00 p.m. The store had closed and was making its customers pay through a security window. The teenager was standing in line to make a purchase. The girl looked around and noticed a pickup truck, and this is what her mother said:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: She said it hit the building, and it went right by her head. And she couldn't -- she talked, but I couldn't understand her she was so upset.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HARRIS: That's consistent with this computer animation of a pickup truck police say was seen at two previous murder scenes six days ago.

After a police officer took the girl's statement, he alerted other local, state and police agencies to be on the lookout for a dark maroon pickup truck. A sheriff's deputy spotted that truck and gave chase. It was unclear what happened, but the pickup got away.

Again, the mother talking to station WSAZ:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: What would be your message to police and your hopes that they would catch this person?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Just that I hope they catch him and maybe kill him. You know, that would be the best thing for him.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HARRIS: A source inside the investigation tells me that they have a description of a possible suspect from an earlier incident, where a suspect saw -- or a witness saw a man outside a similar pickup truck. However, it is not like the previous description announced of a heavyset white male. This witness saw a thin, tall man, about six feet tall, who had a beard. And a sketch artist is working on that as we speak. Police hope to release a composite possibly later today -- Carol.

COSTELLO: And, of course, if they do, you'll show it to us. Art Harris reporting live near Charleston, West Virginia, this morning.
