CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Has it happened again? Another West Virginia convenience store, another shot fired. The best news: the suspect missed.
Live to Dunbar, which is near Charleston, West Virginia, and CNN investigative correspondent Art Harris.

Good morning – Art.

ART HARRIS, CNN INVESTIGATIVE CORRESPONDENT: Good morning, Carol.

Here is what we know: Another shooting late at night near Charleston, West Virginia, outside a convenience store. This time, no one hit, no one hurt.

At 11:39 last night, police received a call from a distraught 16- year-old girl. Police tell CNN she heard a shot ricochet off a convenience store, where she was standing in line with her boyfriend outside, moments after noticing a maroon pickup with tinted windows. It slowed down. She turned around. That's when she heard the shot, police tell CNN, at a Go-Mart near the interstate just outside Charleston.

The mother said this:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: My daughter called me and told me she had been shot at, at the Go-Mart on 16th Street, and she was real upset. And her boyfriend was with her and someone else that she didn't know. And she said it hit the building, and it went right by her head. And she couldn't -- she talked, but I couldn't understand her she was so upset.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HARRIS: Authorities are looking for a truck, like this, shown in a computer animation. A sheriff's deputy spotted a dark pickup speeding down a highway near the convenience store, but lost him.

Again, the mother of the girl:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: She saw the truck before the shot was fired, and said it was maroon with a gold stripe down it. (END VIDEO CLIP)

HARRIS: Authorities say they're looking for a dark pickup with a gold stripe, after other witnesses saw a similar pickup truck at two other murder scenes six days ago on the other side of Charleston.

A source inside the investigation tells me police now have a detailed description of the driver from an earlier shooting from a witness who saw him standing outside the truck. He is six feet tall and trim, not heavyset like an earlier description had said, and this time they believe he has a beard. A sketch artist may actually have a drawing of this suspect later in the day -- Carol.

COSTELLO: Yes, we hope so, Art. Back to this shooting, this latest shooting, police haven't found the bullet yet, have they? They're not 100 percent sure that this shooting is related to the three others, are they?

HARRIS: No, they are not yet. They were scouring the area outside of this Go-Mart early this morning with an evidence team. Unclear whether they found any fragments.

The very, very sharp Dunbar police captain, immediately after talking to the girl, put a word out to the task force. They came immediately to the scene, and a sheriff's deputy picked up the call and that's when he spotted a truck they believe could be the truck in question -- Carol.

COSTELLO: Yes, and I know they were chasing it, and whoever was driving it managed to get away. If this shooting is connected, this girl's mother swears her daughter has nothing whatsoever to do with drugs. This kind of blows their theory, doesn't it?

HARRIS: Well, not necessarily, but at this point, she was standing in line with a number of other people. The store had just shut down at 11:00 p.m., and it was using the security window for its customers. It is unclear -- we don't know anything about her background or other people at the scene.

A Dunbar police officer tells me that they have a number of other witnesses, though, that the task force will be interviewing today, and possibly have more on that pickup, a description, and possibly a description of the driver.

COSTELLO: All right, we'll check back with you in the next half hour. Art Harris reporting from near Charleston, West Virginia.
