HEIDI COLLINS, CNN ANCHOR: Up first on CNN, a vow of revenge against Israel and a Palestinian power struggle. The militant group Hamas promises revenge for an Israeli missile strike that killed four of its members, and a struggle for control over Palestinian security forces grows deeper.
CNN's Michael Holmes joins us now by telephone from Gaza City.

Hello to you once again, Michael.

MICHAEL HOLMES, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Hello, Heidi.

Yes, it was a senior Islamic flag as this funeral procession left the Shiba (ph) Hospital and marched its way towards a mosque, and after prayers went on to a cemetery. It was an attack that Palestinian Authority is calling another attempt to assassinate a peace plan, in their words.

And during the funeral procession, the usual slogan, usual guns -- burst of gunfire bursting into the air. The slogans saying we want martyrs. We want more sacrifice.

This is the second missile attack on a Hamas member in the last three days. It was three days ago that a senior Hamas official was killed by missiles fired from Israeli helicopters. On this occasion it was four members from the Hamas military wing, missiles fired into them, killing all four and wounding eight.

Now Israel says it cannot stand by while the Palestinian Authority does not move on Hamas militants, also on militants belonging to Islamic Jihad. And the army chief of staff saying that any member of Hamas is, in his words, a target for liquidation. Now from the Palestinian side, they say that they cannot move now on the military wings of Hamas and Islamic Jihad, because of these assassinations, or targeted killings, as Israel calls them. They say that is has reduced their ability to do so on the street level. With Palestinians, particularly in Gaza, are now so angry that any move by Palestinian police, would likely be met with resistance.

Israel, however, is not deterred. It says that it reserves the right to kill any Hamas militant they want at any time while the Palestinian Authority does not do so -- Heidi.

COLLINS: All right. CNN's Michael Holmes, joining us from Gaza City by telephone today. Thanks, Michael.
