ANDERSON COOPER, CNN ANCHOR: Well, finally tonight, 22, the clothing chain Hollister, which is owned by Abercrombie and Fitch is suing American Eagle to stop them from using the number 22 on their clothing. Why? Well, Hollister claims it owns the number 22. Hollister says it started using 22 on its clothing first, because it likes to pretend it was founded in 1922. A spokesman said and I quote, "the suit speaks for itself." Today, though, the suit had no comment due to the fact that it's a piece of paper.
But 22 isn't the only number Hollister uses. A lot of digits may actually be in danger. Watch out 27. You're next 83, even 3049. I thought that was my lucky number.
The question, of course, is, can anyone really own a number? Could this program be brought to you by the number 22? Or consider 666. Sure, it's the number of the beast, but does the beast have an army of lawyers to protect it? Well, probably.
If Hollister actually won the rights to 22, it might just be the ultimate catch-21.
