HEIDI COLLINS, CNN ANCHOR: Forget the barbecue. Remnants of Tropical Storm Grace are making it a soggy Labor Day for the eastern half of Texas. The system is bringing four or five inches of rain to many areas as it treks north through Texas, Texas Hill Country that is. Some coastal areas got a foot of water when the system rolled in on Sunday. As you can tell, from those pictures, not a pretty sight at this time.
Jacqui Jeras joining us now to update all of the conditions and all of these storms that we're watching across the country.

JACQUI JERAS, CNN WEATHER: Yes, a lot going on tropically.

What's left of Grace, though, still going to a problem, even though it's been downgraded. No longer a tropical storm. We have these feeds of moisture coming in from the Gulf of Mexico. And as you said it, Heidi, just forget about the barbecues today around the Houston-Galveston area. We are going to be picking up several more inches of rainfall on top of what you already have. Our deficit already, though, still have that, about eight inches dry for the year. And we may end up making up for this with all of the rainfall we have. Corpus Christi just starting to get in on some of this action. We're expecting the showers and thundershowers to continue throughout the day today and yes, into tomorrow.

OK, Hurricane Fabian. This is still off to the north and east of the Leeward Islands. This is an update as of the top of the hour now. Winds still 140 miles per hour, making it a Category 4 hurricane, moving westward at 12 miles an hour. And that's the best news that we can tell you, is that you're just going to see some rough seas and high surf here. Right now not looking at this making any type of landfall, at least not for another couple of days.

Good news with Jimena. It has been downgraded now to a tropical storm, also moving in a westerly motion about 120 miles to the south of the Hilo area. So you're going to see some heavy rainfall. This will be the primary impact as six to ten inches --that means flooding and the potential for mudslides all along the big island. Still a tropical storm warning in effect there. The hurricane watch has been dropped.

OK. Into the lower 48, we're seeing hit and miss showers and thunderstorms across much of the Florida peninsula for today. You run into that wet weather also into the Northeast. It seems very cool with highs into the 70s. The Ohio Valley and also into the Middle Mississippi River Valley we'll see heavy rainfall. One to three inches a good possibility today with flood watches from Pennsylvania extending all the way down through the Ohio Valley and also into Texas.

The Southwest doing pretty good here. Around the Four Corners, some isolated thunderstorms will be late for today. But about west of the Continental Divide, Heidi, it's going to be the best chances to get in those barbecues.

COLLINS: All Right. Jacqui Jeras, keeping her eye on all of these situations. It's probably the first time I've had to say I don't want to be in Hawaii right now.

JERAS: I know.

COLLINS: Jacqui, thanks so much.

JERAS: OK.
