DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: U.S. officials in Iraq today celebrated what they call a sign of international support. The military handed over control of five south central provinces to a Polish led multinational force. The commander of Polish ground forces called it "a dawning of a new age for the people of Iraq."
Meanwhile, the search continues for those still loyal to the deposed regime of Saddam Hussein. Our Jason Bellini joins us. He is in Tikrit with the latest.

Jason, hello?

JASON BELLINI, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Hi. Well, many raids are still taking place here in the center of Iraq around Tikrit. Now first I want to tell you about an incident that happened yesterday. And it's an example of the kinds of things that through these raids up here, they're trying to prevent, an improvised explosive device, an IED as they've come to be called here, detonated, injuring very seriously four soldiers south of Tikrit in a three vehicle convoy.

These things, of course, have been happening all over the place. In this region, it's been -- this region's been just plagued by them. And so, they're go out on raids and now targeting very specific individuals.

They tell me here at the 4th Infantry Division that they're no longer casting as wide a net as they used to before. They're going on raids, like the one you're seeing here. This is a raid that we went on, where they'll bang on the door of someone who they know, someone who's been identified to them through a human source.

And they say now that they have a number of sources who have become reliable to them, that they use on a regular basis. And so, they're netting the people that they want.

Oftentimes, they'll bring these human sources actually to the scene where they make the -- where they do these raids and where they bring someone out and do an immediate identification.

This particular raid that we're showing, they netted someone who they say was a general in Saddam Hussein's Republican Guard. We were also on one raid yesterday, where they captured someone who they said was responsible for planting a mine that killed one soldier. And the soldier was from that particular unit that went after that individual.
