DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: We move on now to Erie, Pennsylvania. The questions reverberate louder than ever. A week ago today, a bomb exploded and silenced the pleas of a man who had just robbed a bank. Local and federal investigators are still unable to answer whether Brian Douglas Wells was an unwilling patsy or the perpetrator.
Our Mikes Brooks joins us from Erie with the latest.

Mike good morning.

MIKE BROOKS, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Good morning, Daryn.

A press conference was scheduled for this morning here at State Police Barracks E for 11:00, but we were just told by Corporal Mark Zaleski (ph) of the Pennsylvania State Police that that press conference has been called off because of investigative reasons.

He would not give specific reasons why they called the press conference off. It was supposed to be the Pennsylvania State Police and the FBI holding a joint press conference to give us some more information. In fact, they were supposed to actually release a picture of a weapon that was found in Brian Wells' car the day of the robbery.

Now, this weapon, it was described by Ken McCabe of the FBI's Pittsburgh office as a unique weapon, and it is not what people traditionally think of as a gun. But investigators have told us that it is actually some kind of firearm capable of firing a bullet.

So, we don't know exactly what that looks like. We're still trying to find out what that looks like.

The press conference has been canceled indefinitely, he said. So, no new information for today -- Daryn.

KAGAN: Any reasoning for canceling that news conference?

BROOKS: No, no reason at all. They just said for investigative reasons. What he did also say, that they have received about 50 tips on this. We asked if they were, you know, substantive tips. He said yes, it was good information they're getting from the public.

They do have a tip line that the joint task force has been receiving calls on -- 866-219-2008. He said they've been receiving good information on this line, but he would not say exactly the reason why they decided to cancel this press conference -- Daryn.

KAGAN: Mike Brooks from Erie, thank you for that.
