FREDRICKA WHITFIELD, CNN ANCHOR: All right, let's find out what your traveling might be like if you decide to hit the air today. Travelocity's Air Traffic Expert Rally Caparas here on this lovely Friday.
RALLY CAPARAS, AIR TRAFFIC SPECIALIST, TRAVELOCITY.COM: Hi.
WHITFIELD: How's it looking? Hi.
CAPARAS: Good. I'll tell you what, it doesn't happen like this very often. The busiest day of the week to travel, or for air travel that is, and we're looking at probably the best conditions nationwide overall. Take a look at how things are going to work for you today.
The only places that I can find delays in the northeast today are Boston Logan, 30 to 45-minute arrival delays. Heavy fog right now, but a mile visibility on the airport surface. That's going to blow away by about 9:30 or so. So the arrival delays should be gone by 9:30 for on-time schedules thereafter. A beautiful weekend, as Chad's been telling you, in the northeast. Later on today it starts.
In Philadelphia, here's a weird one for you, they're going to see 30 to 45-minute arrival delays despite having perfect conditions. It's arrival volume. The way they schedule it is, you're going to get there on time, according to the schedule, but as soon as ideal conditions take place in Philly, there's too much volume between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. Doesn't make sense, but you can expect 45-minute arrival delays until around 9:30 a.m. Eastern, then everything will run smoothly thereafter. It's all part of a scheduling thing, you know, trying to bet on less than favorable conditions and it usually happens that way about 90 percent of the time.
Then down in Florida, you know the deal about Florida today, they have that tropical depression. It's going to move on shore later. Expect 45-minute arrival and departure delays all day long off and on.
And then San Fran, you'll see your typical 30 to 45-minute arrival delays because of marine layer fog.
And then of course Bermuda, they're going to shut that place down here any minute. Check with your airlines before you head out to the airports if you're going away to Bermuda for the weekend. I wouldn't advise it.
I'll be back tomorrow -- actually, Monday morning, yes, it's the weekend.
WHITFIELD: That's right, you get the weekend.
CAPARAS: Monday morning with the latest "Eye on the Sky."
WHITFIELD: Yes, in fact for Bermuda, airport is closed now officially.
CAPARAS: Yes.
WHITFIELD: Yes. All right, thanks a lot. Well, see you Monday.
CAPARAS: I'll see you then.
WHITFIELD: OK.
