DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: Want to show you the first pictures out of Tel Aviv. An apparent suicide bomber set off a powerful explosion earlier today at a bus stop just outside of an Israeli army base that is just east of Tel Aviv. That according to Israeli police.
Let's bring our Jerrold Kessel in. He is helping us track it from Jerusalem.

Jerrold, what else can you add, please?

JERROLD KESSEL, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Daryn, we do know, according to rescue officials on the scene, there had been at least three people killed. The presumption is that one of those is the suicide bomber. And 30 people wounded. Hospital source said there is major hospital where this attack took place, saying that many are in serious condition of the 30 who were taken away to hospital. The wounded have now been taken away. The incident occurred just about a half hour ago on this main trunk road east of Tel Aviv, outside a major hospital, and indeed one of the major Israeli army bases. It's now 6:30 p.m., and when the explosion took place, many of the soldiers, and we understand that many of those who have been caught up in this attack wounded and possibly dead are Israeli soldiers, would have been heading home at the end of the regular working day.

This is a rear echelons base, a major base. And apparently at the hitchhiking, station or bus stop, the two combined, because many soldiers either take the public transport or try to cage a lift outside their bases back home. It came when the site was very, very crowded. But according to reports on the scene, there was also a very powerful explosion that rocked the area, and police are saying it was as if it was a big bomb, that it was a suicide bomber. The presumption is that it was a suicide bomb that he was carrying with him -- Daryn.

KAGAN: Jerrold Kessel on the latest from Jerusalem on what is happening outside of Tel Aviv, thank you. We'll bring you more pictures an information as it becomes available.
