FREDRICKA WHITFIELD, CNN ANCHOR: Heading to the airport this morning? Well let's check on how the skies are looking for everyone out there with Travelocity's Air Traffic Expert Rally Caparas. He decided to be on the phone with us this morning.
Good morning -- Rally.
RALLY CAPARAS, AIR TRAFFIC SPECIALIST, TRAVELOCITY.COM: Good morning, Fredricka. That's right, I'm sitting here in the confines of my comfortable home and watching you on television. And you're looking pretty good this morning. So are the skies in the northeast. Things are running excellent as they did yesterday.
There's one airport, however, that we'll see some major delays and that's going to last until September 28 at Newark's Liberty Airport. There's runway construction on one of their large parallel runways. It reduces the arrival capacity of that airport. And it's going to stay that way, as I said, for the rest of this month. So expect 60 to 90-minute arrival delays, folks. Adjust your schedules or at least your planning. You still need to check in on time according to your airport schedules, but you can expect hour-and-a- half-long delays arriving to Newark's Liberty Airport for the rest of the month of September.
And then over in the Great Lakes region, Chicago O'Hare will see 30 to 45-minute arrival delays this morning. There're lots of low clouds, some fog, poor visibility, but those conditions should improve later this morning and they should have on-time schedules for Chicago O'Hare later on this afternoon and evening.
Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, they're seeing some thunderstorm activity in the southwest already today. You can expect 30 to 45- minute arrival and departure delays as a result as low clouds, thunderstorm activity and occasionally limited flight routes are the problem there in the southwest.
And then finally on the West Coast, San Francisco today, you're going to see some strong gusting winds. It's not the fog, it's going to be the strong gusting winds. About 20 to 25 miles an hour winds or knot winds, I should say, is going to create 30 to 45-minute arrival delays. And that's going to be for most of the day as their airport has reduced arrival capacity also.
The rest of the country is looking fabulous.
I'll be back in the studio with you tomorrow, Fredricka, with the latest "Eye on the Sky." Back to you. WHITFIELD: All right, thanks a lot, Rally. And when you come in the studio, you'll be joined by Carol. She'll be back tomorrow. All right, and happy traveling to all those of you who heading -- who are heading to the airport this morning.
