The Big Snapple Official Drink of New York City

CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Time for a little more business buzz now. James Bond has a Martini, Jimmy Buffett has the Margarita, and now New York City has its own signature drink.
Let's find out what it is from Joya Dass live at the Nasdaq market site.

Now I would think it would be the Long Island Ice Tea.

JOYA DASS, CNN FINANCIAL NEWS CORRESPONDENT: Not so, it's actually going to be the Big Snapple, believe it or not.

COSTELLO: The Big Snapple, just like a martini.

DASS: Yes, I can't take credit for that this early in the morning, I'm usually not that clever. But it's the Big Snapple because Snapple is now the official drink of New York City. This is the first sponsorship, by the way, of its kind. It's a five-year, $166 million deal with the company.

What's going to happen here is now these Snapple machines are going to be available in city schools, in city parks. There's also actually going to be some new flavors, vitamin packed flavors, including Mango, Orange Mango, Grape and Fruit Punch.

And in all seriousness, this is part of a new initiative by Mayor Bloomberg to try and well, first of all, he banned sugary and soda drinks in public schools, so this is part of that initiative. And it's also to better the schools. And it's also bringing money into the city. I think after everything is said and done this is going to bring in $8 million to the city's public schools from Snapple and it's going to bring in about $13 million to the city.

COSTELLO: I don't know, I think I'd rather have a Long Island Ice Tea, but that might be dangerous to put in vending machines.

DASS: Yes, I think so, especially this early in the morning.
