WOLF BLITZER, CNN ANCHOR: There are other firefighters, police officers. They're on duty, though, now in Baghdad. They are members of the 800th Military Police Brigade. They are having a candlelight memorial service that's just getting under way in Baghdad right now.
CNN's Walter Rodgers is our man on the scene. Walter is joining us now live.

Walter -- tell our viewers what's going on half a world away.

WALTER RODGERS, CNN SR. INTL. CORRESPONDENT: Hello, Wolf.

This is a very unusual memorial service for the victims of the September 11 attacks. It's being held at the an-Salom (ph) palace, one of Saddam Hussein's newer palaces in the Baghdad suburbs.

The occasion for this is the 800th Military Police Brigade from Long Island is on duty here, 50 members of that brigade, and that unit lost some six personnel killed in the World Trade Center attacks. They are gathered here now for a few moments of prayer, a candlelight service, as you said. That service will honor their fallen comrades. Again, members of this reserve unit and the regional reserve unit, as I say, six members of that unit were here.

One of the individuals in this ceremony with whom we hope to speak afterwards is Major Anthony Cavalero (ph). He was actually inside the building No. 2. He managed to get out. He was on the 30th floor.

Several other members of the New York City Police Department were here. It is promising to be a very moving and solemn ceremony, albeit in a very unusual place, at one of Saddam Hussein's palaces -- Wolf.

BLITZER: Walter Rodgers reporting from Baghdad. Walter, we'll be getting back to you. Thanks very much.
