SOLEDAD O'BRIEN, ANCHOR: You're watching a heartbreaking scene this morning as children read the names of their loved ones. Their parents, as well, as we just heard. More than 3,000 children were left without their parents in the wake of the World Trade Center attacks.
A moment of silence now to Mark the moment that the second plane, United Flight 175, crashed into the south tower at the World Trade Center. Bells ringing around the nation to Mark the moment, as well. Let's listen.

New York Governor George Pataki.

GOV. GEORGE PATAKI, NEW YORK: Excerpts from a poem by Steven spender.

"I think continually of those who are truly great, who from the womb remember the soul's history, through corridors of light. Where the hours are suns, endless and singing. Whose lovely ambition was that their lips, still touched with fire, should tell of the spirit, clothed from head to foot in song. And who horded from the spring branches the desires falling across their bodies like blossoms.

"See how these names are feted by the waving grass and by the streamers of white cloud, and whispers of wind in the listening sky. The names of those who, in their lives, fought for life, who wore at their hearts the fire's center. Born of the sun, they traveled a short while toward the sun, and left the vivid air signed with their honor."
