CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Let's talk about Schwarzenegger. He's the king of polls, despite grope-gate and Hitler-gate. We've checked with the Davis camp. We just did.
So, let's go live to the phones now and our Kelly Wallace. She's with the Schwarzenegger campaign in Los Angeles.

What's the mood there -- Kelly?

KELLY WALLACE, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Carol, the mood is one of confidence, because Schwarzenegger's aides believe ultimately these last-minute allegations will not hurt him. And they think what these allegations could do is even energize the base even more than it is already energized.

The key, of course, is getting out the vote, and that is what Schwarzenegger was doing yesterday, bringing along, as you mentioned, some heavy-duty ammunition -- his wife, Maria Shriver, and also his mother-in-law, Eunice Kennedy Shriver.

Also behind the scenes, aides say they have a pretty intense get- out-the-vote effort. They've sent more than three million voter guides to households to let people know exactly where Schwarzenegger's name will be in those lists of 135 candidates, two million taped messages going out to households.

And they're also confident, too, Carol, because you have more than two million absentee ballots that have already been cast, and aides say those ballots were cast before these allegations came out over these past few days -- Carol.

COSTELLO: Interesting. Kelly Wallace with the Schwarzenegger campaign in Los Angeles.
