CAROL LIN, CNN ANCHOR: To Iraq now. Two more American soldiers have been killed and four wounded in an ambush.
Our Baghdad bureau chief, Harris Whitbeck, joins us live with details -- Harris.

HARRIS WHITBECK, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Hello, Carol.

Sadr City, which was the scene of a violent explosion last night, was also the scene of an ambush against a U.S. military patrol. This was a routine patrol. Two U.S. soldiers belonging to the Army's 1st Armored Division were killed, four more were wounded. We understand that at least two Iraqi nationals, who were somehow involved in that incident, were also killed. Still not clear what their role was or what circumstances surrounded their deaths.

Now, as we've said, this ambush occurred hours after a large explosion hit an Iraqi police station in Sadr City. Iraqi police are confirming eight people died in that, several dozen wounded. Some of them still in very critical condition -- Carol.

LIN: All right, thank you very much, Harris Whitbeck. I know you've got a lot on your plate, but being Baghdad bureau chief is not one of them, but we've enjoyed your coverage and we look forward more of it in an update. Thank you very much.
