CAROL LIN, CNN ANCHOR: Time for 'Dollars & Deals' with our consumer guru Clark Howard. This morning, Clark takes a closer look at laser eye surgery.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

CLARK HOWARD, CONSUMER ADVOCATE: This morning's question is from Natalie in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Natalie, you are thinking about getting rid of these and having your eyes cut with laser eye surgery.

Now, I want to tell you, without my glasses, I'm not seeing very much right now at all. And I would love to consider what you are doing and that's get my eyes cut by the laser and be able to throw these things away. But let me tell you something, I am still wearing these.

Why, because a lot of people have had a lot of problems with laser surgery. Somewhere around 15 percent of people who have laser eye surgery have complications afterwards. Before you get it done, go to this wonderful site on the Internet and spend a lot of time reading there, SurgicalEyes.com.

But wait, there's more. There's a new procedure for laser eye surgery that's called the Wave Technology that apparently, supposedly, is a far more accurate way to determine how to correct your vision and apparently will have far fewer complications. I say supposedly and apparently because it's new. Give it a little bit of time and maybe laser eye surgery will be OK for you.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

LIN: Clark will be back next Friday with more 'Dollars & Deals.' You can e-mail us your consumer questions, just visit our Web site, CNN.com/DAYBREAK. In the meantime, you can get Clark's money-saving tips on the Web. The address is ClarkHoward.com.
