CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: It's been another bloody day in Iraq. Another American soldier is killed. It comes one day after a deadly suicide bombing near a Baghdad hotel where Americans live.
CNN's Harris Whitbeck joins us live from Baghdad now -- hello, Harris.

HARRIS WHITBECK, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Hello, Carol.

Once again, three new attacks on soldiers operating near Saddam Hussein's hometown of Tikrit. The U.S. Army's 4th Infantry Division lost one soldier who was driving his Bradley fighting vehicle to patrol the area near Beji, north of Tikrit. That Bradley fighting vehicle apparently hit a land mine and, again, that killed one U.S. soldier and injured another one who was also inside that vehicle.

In two other separate incidents, an improvised explosive device a two Humvee convoy. It actually exploded between two Humvees, injuring three soldiers. An another IED hit a three vehicle convoy nearby, injuring one soldier.

Meanwhile, investigations into Sunday's blast near the Baghdad Hotel continue. The blast occurred at around lunch time yesterday on a very busy Baghdad street. Six people killed, two more killed, according to a military spokesman would be the suicide bombers, bringing the total number of dead to eight. More than 30 people were injured during yesterday's blast. As you said, among the injured, some U.S. soldiers. Some of the injured are still in area hospitals.

And the investigation continues. Representatives from the U.S. FBI are working with Iraqi investigators to try to figure out who might be behind this latest attack -- Carol.
