DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: Things are heating up on "The Bachelor" this week. Bachelor Bob Guiney will narrow the list of potential love matches from ten to six. At least that's the plan. Fans of the hit reality romance show are watching in eager anticipation.
Well, what's it like to spend week after week surrounded by beautiful women? It is a tough job but one man in New York knows how it is. "The Bachelor" himself is with us. Bob.

BOB GUINEY, "THE BACHELOR": Hi, Daryn.

KAGAN: Good morning.

GUINEY: Good morning. How you doing?

KAGAN: I'm doing great. All right, let's get right to it. Who did you pick?

GUINEY: I would just love to tell you. I'm so sick of keeping this secret. It's been killing me.

KAGAN: I would be remiss as neighbor if I didn't bring my neighbor Jodie in because she is a "Bachelor" freak. She has e-mailed me a couple questions.

GUINEY: I'm ready.

KAGAN: Jodie wants to know, even if you can't tell us who you picked did you have an instant connection with the person you ended up picking? Did you have an instant connection?

GUINEY: Yes, I think that I did. I definitely felt like I was really captivated by her and wanted to get to know her a lot better. I made some special efforts to try and get to know her better. I did have some instant chemistry.

KAGAN: That's a couple clues right there.

GUINEY: Yes.

KAGAN: She also thinks some of the previous bachelors let fame go to their heads. She was wondering if it's kind of gone to yours?

GUINEY: I hope not. I mean, the biggest thing for me is my family and friends make fun of me constantly. So I don't think I could ever let it go to my head so much. It's been a lot of fun, very flattering. I definitely have been really touched by the way people responded to me and to the show.

KAGAN: Now there's even more women in America falling in love with you, Bob.

You got to this place by participating in "The Bachelorette" and Trista did not pick you.

GUINEY: No, she dumped me.

KAGAN: We've all been there, Bob.

GUINEY: Makes us stronger.

KAGAN: Yes it does. But which one -- which is harder to be the chooser or to be the choosee and bite your nails and wait to see if you're going to be picked?

GUINEY: When I was on "The Bachelorette" that was difficult to wait and see if you were going to be sticking around. I have to be honest. This experience was kind of difficult for me. This was the first time that the women knew who they were meeting. We got to know each other a lot quicker. I felt really connected to a lot of these women.

I would be lucky to meet one of them in the course of my life. Instead I meet all 25 at the same time. And breaking up with someone who's done nothing wrong to you is hard. I wasn't very good at it.

KAGAN: Not easy to be the dumper.

GUINEY: Not at all.

KAGAN: You're taking off here. You can sing. Who knew when you were on "The Bachelorette"?

GUINEY: I didn't talk about it very much.

KAGAN: You're recording a CD. This could be a whole new career?

GUINEY: Well, it was my first career. Right out of college I signed a record deal with MCA. It was my full time job for five years. I was a touring musician. I gave it up to start a mortgage company and being a little different situation relationship wise. I was married and divorced.

So it's actually -- it was interesting. The record deal, they were going to re-release the CD with or without me. I asked them if I could please put new songs on there. It's postponed for a little bit. Should be coming out around Thanksgiving. Hope people like it.

KAGAN: You mention you've been married and divorced. There have been pictures of your ex-wife. Do you feel bad this has impacted her life, too?

GUINEY: I really do. I never thought that they would be able to track her down, frankly. She had an unlisted number and everything else. They are sure resourceful.

KAGAN: They, the media?

GUINEY: The media. Yes. They've been very kind in the way they've handled it with me and her. And I do regret the fact that she's been dragged into this. She and I are very amicable. We still care a lot about each other. We wish each other well. There's no scandal. We grew apart. I just feel bad that she's dragged into it.

KAGAN: You say there's no scandals but what would reality television be without a scandal? A lawsuits about the house where you were doing the show. What did you do to trash this place?

GUINEY: Thankfully it wasn't my house. It was a lady's house.

I don't know. I have no idea what's going on there. Hopefully everyone will work it out. These women were very classy. I have a hard time believing that they would have caused damage to someone's house.

KAGAN: OK. So the next time -- it is going to go down to six. Not another surprise where it looks like there's going to be an elimination but there's not.

GUINEY: This time we're going see the real deal.

KAGAN: Where's the date where we know who you picked?

GUINEY: I think it's sometimes around the end of November. Like November 21 or 22, somewhere in there. I hope everybody keeps on watching. I can't believe how many people are watching right now.

KAGAN: Will you come back with your lady friend?

GUINEY: I'd love to. Will you have me back?

KAGAN: The invitation is officially extended.

GUINEY: Thank you. I officially accept.

KAGAN: We would love to see you. Good luck. If any time between now and then you just bursting, can't keep the secret, you come right back and share.

GUINEY: I'll call you.

KAGAN: Absolutely. Thanks. We will see him eliminate a few more women and take it down to six bachelorettes tomorrow on "The Bachelor." appreciate it. Good to see you.

GUINEY: Thank you.
