CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Palestinian security forces have rounded up at least five suspects in connection with that bombing that killed three Americans.
For more on the investigation, let's head live to Gaza and Chris Burns -- good morning, Chris.

CHRIS BURNS, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Good morning, Carol.

And take a look at the front page headline on the local independent newspaper al-Quds talking about that investigation. Now, first saying the Palestinian leadership condemned what they called "an ugly incident" and ordered an investigation with Americans. That's on the front page headlines today, that the Palestinian leadership would like to work with the Americans in getting to the bottom of this and that they want to make sure that the Americans maintain a leadership role in trying to reach a Middle East peace.

This investigation going on overnight. Roundups going overnight and going -- according to Palestinian security forces, they say they detained at least five people, three of them in the Jabaliyah refugee camp that was near where that bombing occurred in northern Gaza that killed three American security guards. That investigation goes on. The three who were arrested in the Jabaliyah refugee camp belong to a breakaway faction not associating itself directly with any of the other militant factions which they, themselves, have distanced themselves from this bombing, calling it counter-productive to their cause of fighting Israeli occupation in the territories.

Meanwhile, President Yasser Arafat of the Palestinian Authority has elevated a couple of his generals to command security forces and police. One of those is seen as a tough law and order guy who in the past has rounded up militants and thrown them in jail. So this could, perhaps, herald a wider crackdown. But the extent of it is still unclear.

Meanwhile, at the bombing site itself, Palestinian security forces have secured it overnight. They've been watching it. They're waiting for an FBI flyaway team to be coming in from the States. It's still unclear exactly when they'll be going there. But yesterday there was trouble when the first FBI team went there. They were stoned by locals who are angry at the Americans for showing support for Israel. A lot of frustration here in the territories against the Americans and against the Israelis, even as an Israeli incursion goes on in the south of Gaza right now, as we speak, hunting after tunnels they say are being used by the militants to funnel weapons from Egypt. One more Palestinian killed, six more injured, one seriously, according to Palestinian security forces -- back to you.

COSTELLO: All right, Chris Burns reporting live from Gaza this morning.
