CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Right now, though, we want to check on what's making headlines overseas in this morning's 'Euro Edition.' Let's head live to London and Tony Campion.
And, Tony, let me guess, Princess Diana.

TONY CAMPION, CNN CORRESPONDENT: How did you work that out, Carol? Yes, yet more shocking revelation from the world of Royal hangers-on. Spencer's vial letter to Diana. This is, of course, the ongoing serialization in the "Daily Mirror" of her butler, Paul Burrell, you'll remember him, in fact Prince Charles' butler, strictly speaking. He's writing that Earl Spencer, you remember Diana's funeral and you know Earl Spencer, her brother, stood up and it was all very moving and he said things in support of her and so on.

Well what's happened now is that her butler has revealed that in a letter written some five years before the tragic accident in which she died, we get a bit of a different story. The hypocrisy masked by his eloquence was only known to the Princess' real family, says the butler. This is an extract from his book. You know he was saying things like, let's get this right, I know how manipulation and deceit are part of the illness that you are suffering from. I pray you are getting treatment for your mental problems. This is her brother talking to Princess Di in 1996. And you know...

COSTELLO: So he thought she was mentally ill?

CAMPION: Well, yes, I mean he is referring to bulimia. You know she had the eating disorder. And you know she actually said, in fact this is written by the butler again, the Princess felt she was over her bulimia, but she was upset that the suggestion she was mentally ill. Mental problems was a phrase that she had thought she'd only ever hear from the sniping friends of Prince Charles.

We're really getting into the nitty-gritty of it. Everybody (ph) got the knives out for each other. And I mean look, the "Daily Mirror," more amazing revelations from the book of the century on pages 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11. Eleven pages of this stuff, I don't know. I haven't got the stamina for it, I've got to be honest.

COSTELLO: I know. I just wish I had the paper so I could read it for myself.

Anything more about...

CAMPION: We'll send you a copy. COSTELLO: Anything more about Tony Blair hitting the front pages over there?

CAMPION: Yes, absolutely. It's not so much his health now that's the issue but you know what happened with Northern Ireland late yesterday. Front page of "The Independent," Ulster: history is on hold again. And there we've got Tony Blair trying to smile and get on with it.

But what a tough week for him, all of the health scares at the start of the week, and now, you know it was supposed to be a momentous day in terms of Irish history and it's degenerated into what this paper is calling an unexpected shambles. I guess you'd probably know the story that the IRA and Sinn Fein spokesman Gerry Adams sort of made all the right noises, so he thought, about the decommissioning and ongoing commitments towards peace and republicanism. But it's not enough for the Ulster Unionists and David Trimble said that you know we can't go forth.

Tony Blair still trying to, you know, take the elections forward. He wants this to be, you know, the strong (ph) Assembly to be restored and for elections to go ahead as planned in November, but it doesn't look at all good.

COSTELLO: All right. Thank you very much, Tony Campion, reporting live from London for us this morning.
